Broadway and Beyond was the theme of the New World Symphony’s anticipated 34th Anniversary Gala, celebrating another sensational year of music and talent. Gala Chairs John and Jama Haley welcomed guests to the New World Center for a glamorous evening that began with a lively cocktail hour, Thierry’s — catering partner at NWS — served an array of delicious bites to get the party going in the best way.

Guests were then invited into the music hall for dazzling performances by NWS and the night’s invited performer, Leslie Odom, Jr. – the multifaceted, award-winning vocalist, songwriter, author, and actor best known for his breakout role as the original ‘Aaron Burr’ in the smash hit Broadway musical Hamilton. Mr. Odom won the Tony Award for Best Actor in a Musical and a Grammy Award as a principal soloist on the original cast recording for his performance.

Following the concert was the evening’s elegant sit-down dinner featuring a lavish and flavorful spread catered by Thierry’s. Attendees indulged in the night’s flavorful offerings, while surrounded by a barrage of blooming floral décor and glittering hanging chandeliers.

Present for the festivities was New World Symphony’s Founder and Artistic Director, Michael Tilson Thomas, who looked back with gratitude and excitement on the success of NWS.

“The New World Symphony has been my pride and joy for over thirty years,” he said, “Never has that been more so than in this challenging time when so many of our Fellows are stepping up to the plate with original and engaging ideas for reaching out to people everywhere with their beautiful musical message.”
