Mother's Day Menu Ideas / by Eric Monteiro

There are plenty of gift ideas and special ways to celebrate mom - the children can shower her with lovingly crafted homemade goodies (click here for the perfect Mother's day cookie recipe) or you can splurge on extra special store-bought gifts, but one thing you’ll want to make sure you have covered is delicious food that doesn’t involve mom spending the better part of her special day in the kitchen!

Morning options may include a classic breakfast in bed, served on a beautiful platter with hand-picked flowers and her favorite tea or coffee. Maybe you prefer a classic breakfast or brunch spread with fruit, pastries, sweet and savory tartlets, pancakes and waffles. For something a little different though, our executive chef suggests a buffet with a spread of delicious seafood and light bites.

Our executive chef is always looking for ways to make gastronomic experiences extraordinary and his favorite treat for the moms in his life includes Stone Crabs, Lobster, and the light, brisk flavors of ceviche that burst in an array of colors! You could opt for something subtle like hints of stone crab in a gourmet omelette or you could go for the seafood extravaganza (we suggest the latter:) Oysters, Shrimp, Mussels, Lobster, Flaky Jumbo Lump Crab Cakes, or Paella. Use lobster instead of ham in your Eggs Benedict or search for a recipe for Chunky Lobster Risotto.

If your Mother’s Day Brunch includes friends and extended family and you really want to splurge, add Smoked Salmon Mini Bagels with cream cheese, capers and red onions, mini roasted fingerling potatoes, quinoa salad with lemon vinaigrette and a station serving small bites of Quail Eggs Benedict followed by mini waffles with fresh fruit and whipped cream!

Whether everyone wakes up early to prep the brunch of the year, or you call a caterer, make sure mom feels loved on Mother’s Day .... and have a beautiful weekend!
